Insights! Inspiration! Innovation! Listening to the Voice of the Customer through Social Media

Speaker: Carole Schmidt

Date: Thursday, June 5, 2014
Time: Noon EDT (GMT -4)

Description: Carole Schmidt with Doyle Research will show and tell how investigating unsolicited online commentary and conversation provides a unique and valuable snapshot of the voice of the customer (VOC). You will see firsthand why business decision makers should look beyond “likes,” “followers,” and “data feeds” toward the meaning and context of posts and buzz. Carole will include FutureCare, a case study that tapped qualitative social media analysis for emerging topics related to future health care that led to next step idea generation and a framework for brand positioning.

About Our Speaker:

Carole Schmidt is Vice President of Doyle Research. She’s a creative, strategic, passionate champion for tapping your “voice-of-the-customer” — especially early in the product development process. Carole will meet your customers on their terms and where they operate — discussing document software online, studying operations control at a data center, observing morning coffee behaviors at 5am. She still finds us humans (and all our weird behaviors) fascinating! She delivers real insights and tools you need to put your research to work, earning her many long-term clients and some of the most challenging research assignments which she faces with a contagious smile and a “let’s make it happen” mantra. Despite being well-educated at NIU, politics drew Carole into this crazy business, a “gut feel” that’s led to continued education (DePaul University’s Kelstadt Center), skill refinement (QRCA, PDMA, Creative Education Foundation), lecturing (NU’s Kellogg School) and working toward her New Product Development Professional certification.
