MemCom Happenings: 2014 in Review

Philip Smith,

As the year draws to an end, we remind you that membership renewal is now due. There are early bird discounts till December 31 and for some International countries, a discount depending on your country’s GDP.

It has been another full year for MemCom. I thank the team for 2014: Elaine Gingold, Kea Wheeler, Cris Bain- Borrego, Maria Cedillo and Manny Schrager. Kate Wagenlander and Jane Mount started the year with us but due to other commitments, resigned; I thank them for their help on the committee.  I would also like to welcome Kendall Nash as my Co-Chair. I especially thank her for joining me after just having finished her presidency of QRCA!  Thanks also to Darrin, Nicki, Laurie and Shannon at Ewald Consulting and Manny as our Board liaison for 2014 and Daniel Berkal for the last few months.

Kea was involved in the task force to expand QRCA membership. We thank her for her time and for keeping us informed on the activities of this worthwhile task force. The MemCom team has been involved in developing, with the Board, these potential bylaw changes — and early next year the membership will have an opportunity to vote on these. I urge you all to vote, and to consider “the QRCA you want in the future.”

This year we worked on two Board-directed tasks: on-boarding new members, and retaining existing members. In 2015 we will be implementing some of the outcomes from these undertakings.

We have maintained some strong discounts related to education and training. I thank these education and training partners for their support in 2014.  Elaine was MemCom’s liaison with our partners. Please check the membership discount page on the website — these really can maximise your membership.

In 2014 we again were able to offer a discount on membership to those members from countries with GDP of less than $US30,000. I am also pleased to confirm the Board has continued this offer through 2015.

The membership drive for 2014 helped us to gain 51 new members.  Thank you to all the members who encouraged peers to join QRCA.  We will once again offer this promotion in 2015.

If you would like to be part of MemCom 2015, please don’t hesitate to contact me on Best wishes for the holiday season.

TechCom's Hot Tips contest generated dozens of great nuggets of advice for QRCs. Thanks to all who contributed their great tips.  Congratulations to Diane Harris, who was randomly selected from all entrants to win a $50 Amazon gift card!

forumCheck out the new direct link to the Forum on the QRCA homepage and browse work opportunities, ask a question, or chime-in on other member posts.  Why not join the members-only discussion?
