C+I SIG—Sneak Peek at 2015

Kathy Jacobs-Houk, kathyjh@marketinsightresearch.com

In 2014 the C+I SIG presented four insightful and inspiring webinars. At the end of the year we asked ourselves, “How do we top that?” Our creative committee members put their heads together and came up with an exciting array of topics including innovation, design thinking, visual thinking, and ideation to capture more business.

We are delighted that the first in our stellar 2015 lineup is a presentation by Len Ferman, who has spent 25 years managing innovation for Fortune 100 companies.  For the last 18 years, Len has worked for Bank of America, where he led the front end of innovation and served as head of ideation. Now, as Managing Director of Ferman Innovation, he helps companies generate and evaluate breakthrough growth ideas. He will be presenting his webinar called:

“Qualitative Research’s Critical Role at Each Step of the Innovation Process”

Date: Thursday, March 26, 2015
Time: 12:00-1:00 p.m. EDT/11:00-12:00 (noon) CDT (GMT-5)/10:00-11:00 a.m. MDT/9:00-10:00 a.m. PDT

Innovation is one of the most frequently heard corporate buzzwords of the 21st century. The constantly accelerating pace of change in technology, the business environment, and its impact on customer needs necessitate that all businesses must innovate or become irrelevant. But what is innovation? And, as qualitative researchers, how can you help clients in their innovation efforts?

Innovation expert Len Ferman will provide a primer on the innovation process and show how qualitative research can play a critical role at each step. Adopting Len’s approach can help you deepen your client relationships and create new revenue streams for your practice by providing value-added qualitative research services.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to partner with clients’ innovation teams to ensure qualitative research is a part of their process
  • How to prepare stimulus for brainstorming sessions based on qualitative research
  • How to test, refine, and cultivate winning concepts after a brainstorming session

Social Media Research SIG 2015 Update

Kris Hodges, mktresearcher@twcny.rr.com

The Social Media Research (SMR) SIG started its second year a little leaner and meaner (but not mean!). The SMR SIG trimmed down to a core group of worker bees who are all dedicated to investigating some aspect of social media research. Interests include experimenting with data visualization, testing out social media platforms, sharing SMR strategies, and investigating ways to conduct research through social media channels.

If you are interested in learning and sharing, contact either Kris Hodges at mktresearcher@twcny.rr.com or Jennifer Dale at jdale@insideheads.com. And if you are attending the Quirk's Research event in February, join us there for our next meeting.
