With everyone just coming off the amazing New Orleans conference, now is the perfect time to reflect upon, and thank, all of the wonderful volunteers who make this event and organization so great. A relaxed setting, engaged attendees and outstanding content all combined to make this one of the most memorable conferences in recent memory.

2014 Rising Star Award Presented to Katrina Noelle

Mark Sumpter, mark@c-linkmoderating.com

I want to extend my sincere congratulations to Katrina Noelle, the 2014 Rising Star Award recipient! Since she joined QRCA in 2007, she has been a passionate and active volunteer who has taken on critical roles with enthusiasm, dedication, and effectiveness.

Some of the contributions that Katrina has made to QRCA since she joined:

  • Co-Chair of the Sponsorship Committee
  • 2014 Revenue Task Force member
  • Volunteer on past conference teams, including the Speaker Committee
  • Active member of Young Professionals, Ethnography and Online SIGs

Katrina received a beautiful “star award” at the Awards Luncheon on Thursday in New Orleans and is a wonderful role model for new members, showing how getting involved can benefit members both personally and professionally.

The QRCA Board approved the Rising Star Award in 2009. Its goal is to provide recognition and incentive to QRCA members who have less tenure with QRCA and yet have made significant contributions. The Board asks members for recommendations for this award, so please keep it in mind throughout the year as you observe outstanding volunteer efforts by our newer QRCA members.

Congratulations to Katrina on receiving the 2014 QRCA Rising Star Award. Thank you for your leadership on behalf of QRCA and its members!

Conference Sponsorship Committee Exceeds Projections

Katrina Noelle, kn@katrinanoelleresearch.com

The Sponsorship Committee is proud to announce that sponsorships came in at 8 percent over projections and that the Marketplace was full to capacity this year. Connections were made, prizes were won, and information was shared throughout the conference. In addition, our new conference component, Demo Connections, brought in a full house of attendees on Wednesday morning. The four presentations were appreciated by presenters and participants alike.

“It truly was a fantastic event, and great to meet so many smart and forward thinking qualitative researchers! Thanks again for making us feel welcome. Looking forward to partnering with and learning from all of you as you come up with creative approaches to meet your clients’ objectives.” - Monika Wingate, Digsite (on Twitter)

“I was happy to see that the room was filled with attendees that were eager and excited to hear the presentations that were on the agenda, mine included. I had numerous questions throughout my talk, all of which allowed me to provide information geared towards the client perspective. Many of those in attendance also stopped by my exhibition booth throughout the conference for additional follow-up. Demo Connections was an opportunity that I hope will continue, moving forward in future conferences.” - Bob Granito, Interactive Video Productions

Young Professionals Grant Attracts Millennial QRCs!

QRCA Board of Directors

Fifteen enthusiastic millennial professional qualitative researchers attended the QRCA conference in New Orleans this year as part of the inaugural Young Professionals Grant program.

QRCA rose to the challenge set forth in 2013 by Merrill Dubrow of M/A/R/C Research, backed up by Steve Schlesinger of Schlesinger Research, to strengthen our engagement with the next generation of market researchers and to connect them with resources designed to nurture their expertise.

Mr. Dubrow acknowledged our success with executing the program. He commented, “We are extremely grateful to the QRCA for making the YPG happen.”  Monica Zinchiak, QRCA Vice-president added, “The QRCA is passionate about this program and supporting the growth and development of the younger professionals in the qualitative market research industry. We look forward to a repeat success in 2015.”

Thank you to this year’s recipients and all YPG applicants!

Call for Papers: PMRG’s Healthcare Marketing Researchers CONNECT

connect

Caroline Volpe, PMRG Liaison, caroline@compassmarketresearch.com
and the Industry Relations Committee

PMRG (Pharmaceutical Marketing Research Group) has retooled and renamed its Annual National Conference to reflect a broader scope and focus on connection of professions, ideas and sectors across and beyond the healthcare industry. The next conference will be held at the Gaylord National Hotel in National Harbor, MD, March 15-17, 2015.

QRCA members are invited to submit proposals for this conference. You do not have to be a member of PMRG to do so. You don’t even need to have a healthcare/ pharmaceutical focus.

The agenda will include a variety of fully-vetted sessions and discussion forums, a Global Partner Expo featuring 85 booths (QRCA will have a presence), 22+ hours of networking and leading-edge keynote speakers including Stefani Klaskow from Google and Gautam Jaggi from Ernst & Young, exposing attendees to innovative methods, recommended practices and ideas to bring back to the office.

Speaker submissions do need to be in line with the year’s theme: Next Level Thinking: Broaden Your Insights, Optimize Your Impact. The goals of the conference will be to help attendees better understand:

  • How changes to the healthcare landscape affect framing and prioritization of key business issues;
  • How to best address key business questions from a methodological standpoint;
  • How to utilize new data technologies;
  • How to synthesize and leverage insights within a broader business model and context.

As appropriate, cross-sector examples will be used to help illustrate ways other industries have met challenges similar to those now confronting the healthcare industry.

QRCA submissions will be reviewed by a QRCA review committee as well as the PMRG Program Committee. QRCA members who are selected to speak at the conference will have their sessions branded as QRCA sessions.

For details on submitting a proposal, visit the PMRG website. Submissions are due by November 14, 2014, and should be made directly to PMRG. Submissions from QRCA members will be forwarded to QRCA for review, so please make sure to check that you are a QRCA member when you send in your submission, even if you are also a PMRG member. Questions? Contact Caroline Volpe at caroline@compassmarketresearch.com.

Please spread the word so that QRCA shines at this event!

Hope to see you in Maryland!
