Letter from the President

Monica Zinchiak, monica@zresearchservices.com

Your new Board of Directors will be in place a few days from now. Congratulations to our newest board members! And thank you to the directors stepping down. Corette Haf is a consistent ray of sunshine. Her guidance on all QRCA Global initiatives made the organization stronger. Shaili Bhatt embodies the warmth and giving nature of all QRCA members, and she never let us forget that in our board decisions. Daniel Berkal’s out-of-the-box thinking helped us all see new perspectives.

Last year, in this very letter, I asked the following question: Is our gradual development and steady progress enough to sustain QRCA, maintain a perceived value to our members, and increase the stature of our profession/organization? I have been proud to be part of the QRCA teams that have made advancements in these areas during my time on the board.

The few that immediately stand out for me are:

  • Membership bylaw revisions that favor inclusion and expansion

  • Establishing the Young Professionals Grant

  • Continuing the Global Outreach Scholarship

  • Improvement to Annual and Worldwide Conference policies

  • Maintaining fiscal resources in the face of declining membership

  • Establishing a Content Committee to curate our educational resources

  • Website improvements with full mobile capability

  • Reinvigorating the Qually Award

  • Executing a successful 2016 Worldwide Conference

  • Double-digit growth for Qcast and VIEWS

  • QRCA LinkedIn Group growth of 400%

Now it is time for new board members and volunteer leaders to guide the organization. I am grateful to have been able to serve QRCA as a board member for the past five years. I am also very pleased to pass my president’s hat to Mr. Manny Schrager, your 2016-17 QRCA President. His tenure on the board, long career in qualitative research, and optimistic interpretation of all things QRCA will make him a great leader and QRCA President.

Come hear Manny and me present the QRCA Annual Report and hold our town hall meeting via conference call Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 3:00PM Eastern time.

Action! From the Board

Corette Haf, corette@qualonline.co.za

The Board of Directors met 15 August 2016, and discussed the following:

  • Mid-year analysis of QRCA’s financials indicates the need to continue focus on membership and sponsor development. To address these issues, the Membership Committee will offer a free four-month trial to LinkedIn group participants who qualify for QRCA membership, as well as implement the 2017 Annual Partner Program which the Sponsorship Committee recommended.

  • A change was approved to the Annual Conference Policy Manual that will have the conference chair/co-chairs do the site visits to determine the venue with the meeting planner instead of the President.

  • The Membership Committee and Ewald staff have institutionalized the Touchpoint Program for welcoming and on-boarding new members.

  • The Board was pleased with the excellent response rate to the survey sent to individuals who submitted 2017 Annual Conference presentation proposals. The survey’s purpose was to understand the reasons for participation interest.

  • This was the last official meeting of the Board members who finished their terms. Appreciation was expressed to Monica Zinchiak, Corette Haf, Daniel Berkal and Shaili Bhatt for their service.

  • Newly elected Board members are Kelly Heatly, Ilka Kuhagen, Janet Standen, and Regina Szyszkiewicz. Jay Zaltzman was re-elected for a second term. They will join returning Board members Tom Rich, Laurie Tema-Lyn and President-in-waiting, Manny Schrager.

The last meeting of the current Board will be 12 September, if there is any business to complete.

The first meeting of the new Board will be Monday 19 September 2016.
