Advice from Two Veterans about New Methodologies, What’s Worked for Them and What the Future Holds

Ever wonder what it takes to be successful in qualitative research? This is your chance to hear from two veteran qualitative research consultants about their own personal journeys in qualitative research. Each veteran will share her thoughts on what’s new in qualitative research, what’s working now and what they believe the future will hold. Get pearls of wisdom they each want to offer to help other qualitative research professionals pave their own way. Layla Shea, Founder and Chief Insights Officer of Upwords, and Katrina Noelle, Founder and President of KNow Research, are both seasoned independent qualitative research professionals at the height of their careers enjoying a successful business. Each want to offer their advice to other quallies who can pave their own roads to success.

This session kicks off a new and exciting 6-part webinar series targeted to young professionals 35 years and younger sponsored by L&E Research with the Qualitative Research Consultants Association. These sessions will be created and produced by young professionals with topics that will expand into exciting new interest areas.

About the Speakers

Layla SheaLayla Shea founded Upwords in 2008 to design and moderate online qualitative research for major brands. Layla has developed Activity Based Conversations — a unique approach that enables Upwords to dig deeper and engage participants in new ways. Formerly a marketer at Coca-Cola and S.C. Johnson, a research consultant and facilitator at Sklar Wilton & Associates, and a RIVA Trained Focus Group Moderator, Layla’s finely tuned skills help her connect with participants’ true feelings and she relishes the role of connector between clients, brands and consumers. Layla is a global award-winning researcher who is often found speaking at industry conferences.

Katrina NoelleKatrina Noelle is principal of KNow Research, a qualitative consultancy based in San Francisco that has been designing custom qualitative research design for clients by combining methodologies from traditional in-person research with online and mobile approaches for over 15 years. Clients include companies in the retail, fashion, personal care, consumer packaged goods, technology, medical and financial service industries. She is also co-founder of Scoot Insights, an agile qualitative methodology provider.
