Climbing the MR Ladder: From Analyst to Consultant, the Skills You Need for Rapid Success in the Qualitative Research Industry
Presented by: Kristin Schultz and Kayte Hamilton
Life as a Young Professional in the marketing research industry is exciting and rewarding, but it can also be frustrating and packed with challenges. As YPs, we are hungry to learn and grow. We strive to establish ourselves in our careers, and quickly "climb the ladder" in our given situation. But how do we do that? How can we not only establish ourselves, but distinguish ourselves among colleagues of all levels of experience? On October 11, two Young Professionals will share on how they successfully made the transition from junior-level staff to trusted resources within their companies and beyond. Please join us for this sharing of ideas, and don't forget to bring your own thoughts, questions, and strategies!
In all aspects of her life, Kristin seeks opportunities to engage with others, facilitate insight, lead conversations and solve problems. She has a strong background in human behavior and an even stronger passion for discovery. It's most likely you will find Kristin in conversation — whether in the field moderating or in line at the grocery store. Her natural inclination is to observe and listen to people. After a career in the education industry as a consultant and facilitator, she stumbled into market research. Her ability to build rapport and make sincere connections quickly paved the path for her to grow from a Project Manager to a Qualitative Research Director at a global market research agency in a few short years. When she is not working, Kristin is most likely learning something new, exploring the world or practicing and teaching Yoga and Ayurveda, the Indian science of self-healing. In addition to a career as an independent moderator and researcher, she owns and operates a yoga and wellness studio in Exton, PA and is an outspoken advocate for the legal cannabis industry and safe patient access. She graduated with Distinction from the Pennsylvania State University earning a B.S. in Human Development and is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Instructor.
Kayte has six-plus years executing qualitative and quantitative marketing/consumer research both nationally and internationally. After earning her Master’s in Mass Communications, she immediately took her insight-generating background to the marketing research world. Since then, she has moderated focus groups for everything from beer companies to medical school candidates both in person and online. Kayte has also hosted team workshops and led companies to new consumer-driven decisions. For the last four years, Kayte has been writing project proposals and participating in new business pitches, as well as generating her own sales leads through network based marketing. Prior to working in marketing research, Kayte was in the service business and feels she owes her incredible amount of client patience to years of waiting tables for large and small food businesses.
