Navigating Data Privacy Compliance: What Qualitative Researchers Need to Know

Today’s data world has brought more stringent privacy rules that market researchers must navigate. In addition to protecting respondent data that they personally collect, researchers may also be responsible for third parties handling data entrusted to them. For smaller firms and independent researchers, keeping up with data protection laws and requirements can be challenging, since they often don’t have the infrastructure or resources of a larger organization.

In this session, we will discuss the current data privacy landscape and what practitioners and users of qualitative research need to know, so they can meet their obligations while avoiding unnecessary liability.  We’ll share insights and examples from the market research services sphere to help researchers navigate data privacy compliance and contractual terms relating to security, including assessing third party risk and recording respondent participation consent, as well as tips to help improve data protection practices.
