Section 3: How to Get Involved

Chapters | SIGs | Committees | Board of Directors | Write an Article | Advance Program

QRCA invites you to get involved with your colleagues! Each opportunity provides a way to learn, build your business, generate new ideas and connect with like-minded peers.

Chapters

Every QRCA member belongs to a chapter, based on the location you put into your profile. QRCA chapters typically hold four events annually for members. Local chapter events are an essential way to network throughout the year and to continually learn. Chapter events range from a day of speakers sharing what’s new in the qual world to a happy hour where you can connect and share with colleagues. In addition to participating in your own chapter’s events, you are welcome to attend other chapter events, either in person or online (if video streaming is available). There are nearly 20 QRCA chapters featuring a wide variety of topics. To find upcoming events in your area, or across the world, take a look at the calendar and register!

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

QRCA members have access to members-only SIGs that focus on specific qualitative research disciplines. SIGs give members an outlet to network with others who have similar interests and an opportunity to share in-depth information and resources.  These virtual events provide new insights into specialized areas of qualitative research.

How do I join a SIG?
To join a SIG, sign into the QRCA website and click on the tab “Groups” in the top headers.

SIG

On the right hand side, there will be an area to join any group: SIG, Chapters, or Committees. From there you can view all groups that are available to join and a button for each to join.

Advance Program

The QRCA Advance Program recognizes members who demonstrate commitment to the profession by participating in ongoing professional development.

QRCA members earn Advance status by participating in QRCA and non-QRCA educational activities.  Members must earn 12 points in a calendar year to be eligible for status for the following year.

Members who earn Advance status will have their status noted in their Find a Researcher profile and have the ability to use the Advance badge to promote their status as a professional with a commitment to ongoing learning.

How do I start earning Advance Points?
It’s easy: attend QRCA events and everything else will be taken care of! If you attend any QRCA chapter meeting, SIG, or conference, the points will be recorded for you. If you write an article for VIEWS, you will receive points that will go into your profile once the issue comes out. Below is the breakdown of the number points for each QRCA event:
