Overview of August 26 QRCA Monthly Board of Directors Meeting
Consent Agenda | New slate of officers approved:
- President: Lisa Horwich
- Vice President: Maria Virobik
- Treasurer: Martha Hayward
- Secretary: Elizabeth McKinley
AI SIG renamed to QualTech SIG. Chair and Co-chair to be named soon.
Treasurer’s Report
• QualTech Virtual Conference resulted in over $20,000 combined sponsorship and registration revenue.
• Income for the year expected to be at around $10k before investments. Expect reserve fund and sufficient cash flow.
• The 2026 budgeting development will begin this fall. A preliminary budget will be presented for review at the November board meeting.
2026 Annual Conference Budget
• Budget presented aims for $140,000 net income.
• Board discussed increasing registration rates as they have not changed in 3 years, despite ~10% inflation over this period. Room rates will be approx. $100 less per night in San Antonio vs Philly.
• Board discussed early-bird registration timeline. The early-bird discount deadline is typically 6 weeks before the event, however, this would coincide with the Christmas holiday. Board recommends moving deadline to Friday, December 19 and will consult with the Annual Conference chairs.
New AMS/Website Transition
• There will be a form to log issues and unique email address that Website Task Force (WTF) and Acumen will monitor. Lisa is working on a how-to guide to populate profile.
• The WTF has uploaded everyone into SIGs but still needs to assign members to chapters and committees.
Additional Business
• QRCA has a booth at the CRC Insights Association Corporate Conference on September 9-11. Martha will be staffing the table. QRCA will be developing marketing assets to distribute.
• The new AMS/website provider, Tradewing, is developing a new LMS. In the meantime, we will continue to use Qualology. At some point, content will be migrated.
Strategic Research Update
• Bob gave a presentation on membership attrition. He noted the past year’s decline in membership (-6.3%). He identified the NewQ member decays as the most concerning. Action items were recommended in the presentation, including the need to better understand younger members, driving engagement to drive conversion and promoting awareness at Universities.
• Martha presented on member survey trends. QRCA’s strengths and growth areas were shared. QRCA’s strengths include being known for community & networking and education & professional development. Members wish for more “advanced” content, hands-on/practical learning and business content, support for chapters/SIGs, a more global community, better ROI justification, more connecting/networking and an improved digital experience.
• Elizabeth presented a lapsed member analysis, sharing reasons why members do not immediately renew. The primary reasons include career/role changes (~40%), financial/business reasons (~30%), perceived gaps in offerings (~20%) and time constraints/personal life conflicts (~10%).
• Next steps will be organizing IDIs.
Next Board Meeting will be scheduled for September.
